Punishment for dumping wastes in Imo state, Nigeria
Haha, isn’t that the JOKE of Nigeria’s 2016 Independence month. Nigeria’s Vanguard newspaper published that the Imo state government confirmed abandoning the heap of decomposing municipal solid wastes along Douglas road, Owerri. It was asserted as a sort of PUNISHMENT for indigenes of the city especially the ones that rebelled against the relocation of the market by the present administration. While I find that preposterous, I believe that the bearer of such news should hide his/ her face in shame. It was specified that the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, CPS, poured forth a string of invectives on the indigenes and leaders of Owerri municipal, among which he said that “Owerri people must be made to understand that they cannot eat their cake and have it.” He furthered clarified that the heap of wastes were uncollected because of a restraining court order from tampering with the market.
